Ideas For Family Fun At The V & A Waterfront These School Holidays

This week our family got to spend the afternoon checking out all the reasons why the V & A Waterfront is the place to be with your kids these school holidays. The Waterfront is a special place for our family as we often take the kids down there for an ice cream and to walk around enjoying the street performers and live music, so this invitation was something we genuinely looked forward to over the whole week leading up to this family adventure. And it was even more exciting because Dad took some time off work to join us.

How To Work From Home With Kids (And My Workspace Wishlist With Superbalist)

Hey boss moms, high fives to you! I know from personal experience that working from home with kids is no joke and that there’s a fine line between being real with your colleagues and clients about your current work situation and maintaining a level of professionalism at the same time, especially when you just have to take that call and you have a kid clinging to your leg.

Thola Antamu: Adoption From Her Personal Opinion.

My name is Tholakele Antamu. I was born into a life, a country and a world that was not quite ready for me and I knew it from my very first moment of consciousness. I was born in a place I did not know, can not recognise and have not yet been back to. I was given the name Lindiwe, surnameless, mother and fatherless I lay waiting for my new life to find me.

The name Lindiwe, is the female name derived from the Zulu word ‘ukulinda’, which means ‘to wait’. My name is now Thola, (Tholakele) which means ‘to be found’, (the found one). This is the name I was given by my two white South African parents in early January of 1989. My name is my crown and I wear it with pride like a gold wreath upon my dark chocolate face. My name, Tholakele Antamu Catherine van Speyk Hulbert, tells my whole story. It tells a story of a powerful, stong, elegant woman who was found on the top of a high peak. No one knew how she got there or why she was there but people would always find themselves wanting and wishing that they could join her.

I am Thola Antamu.

I Won ‘Best Mom Award’ Thanks To Spree’s New Image Search Feature

Some of you may know that I’ve been on the lookout for a suitable princess dress for Kira for the longest time without luck. Suitable meaning – suitably sparkly, but not too over the top, and a nice price. So when Spree contacted me about their new Image Search Feature, I’d give it a whirl to find a reason to make my girl twirl. (Do you like what I did there?)

So what is this ‘Image Search Feature’ on the Spree app and how does it work? Well, it’s a feature that allows you to either take a live photo or upload and image (from anywhere) and search for a specific clothing item that you may like. Example of this: I see a picture of a sparkly princess dress on Pinterest that I’d love to get for my daughter. But where would I be able to get something like this in South Africa? Well, I can take a screenshot of the dress and upload it on the Spree app and then click ‘search’ to see if they have anything similar in their online store. Spree will list item options that are similar in colour, style and texture too and essentially helping you find similar items on Spree that you can shop right then and there. Which I did!

Here’s how easy it was for me to shop for sparkles with Spree:

Step 1: Find an image of a item that you’re looking for. I was looking for a princess dress similar to the one below in pink or purple. I found this pic on Pinterest:Continue Reading
