Cape Town Moms, this place is a a well kept secret. If you haven’t already discovered Franky’s Diner in Sea Point, let me tell you about this treasure – you can get comfortable in a red leather booth, sip on a speciality milkshake (or a glass of wine) and watch the kids run wild in the fantastic play area. And kids eat for FREE on Mondays to Thursdays between 12pm and 8pm. What’s not to love?

We were feeling brave and so ventured out with the three little ones for a Friday night adventure to Franky’s Diner in Main Rd Sea Point last. We may have arrived 45 minutes behind schedule in the middle of load shedding with a handful of hangry kids, but all was redeemed when the kids saw the play area and balloons. We plonked ourselves down in the booth closest to the play area and ordered some drinks and food for the kids. The kids’ food arrived so quickly and Ilan’s bubblegum milkshake seriously saved the day.

The Kiddies menu is great – it ranges from Chicken Nuggets and Chips to Fish Fingers and Curly Fries. And it’s seriously affordable. Franky’s Diner also host ‘Themed Grease 50’s Style Kiddies Parties’ – you can read more about that here. Gosh, and the milkshakes. They are TOO good. Seriously. The Snickers milkshake is a MUST!

We had such a great time at Franky’s and will definitely be back – Ryan is keen to try the Franky’s Chubby Burger Challenge (eat a massive beef burger and chips in under 10 minutes to get your name inscribed on the wall of fame), I need to try the Ferrero Rocher milkshake and I’ve heard rumours that Elvis performs there some Saturday nights…
