Nath is a French-speaking Belgian mom through adoption who is now living in South Africa with her family. We first met on Instagram but then I recently got the chance to meet her in real life when I joined a group of travel bloggers from #TravelChatSA on a day trip experience to Riebeek Kasteel.
Marleen and I met over Instagram and connected over the fact that we’re both raising young South African kids thanks to transracial adoption. Although there are many stories of unethical international adoptions hitting the news these days, I have all the time in the world for parents who adopt internationally when its the best match for the kids involved and when the parents truly make an effort to expose their kids to their South African culture. Kids are hectic, if you’re a parent then you don’t need me to tell you that. They are demanding and busy, even if you try to slow life right down and simplify your days. It’s normal to get caught up in all of the day to day activities and high five yourself on keeping your kids alive for yet another 24 hours, but then there are those moments when you look over at your kids and time stands still for a second.
